THE PRICE OF APOSTASY

Samuel Ministries witnessed several cases in which nearly every Christian convert from Islam, is ostracized (excluded from family or society) by his or her family and other Muslims in the community.

Many Muslim nations have Sharia Law, where blasphemy (speaking against Islam, Muhammad or Quran) and apostasy (one who leaves Islam) are criminal offenses. The price these individuals (Muslim Background Believers) pay for following Christ is a wonderful display of our God's glory and the clear evidence of the Gospel's transforming power. Turning from Islam to Christianity comes at a great cost. Some Muslim Background Believers converts are persecuted by family members, while others are persecuted by community members & leaders.

I personally faced this horrible situation. As a former Muslim Background Believer from Pakistan, when I left Islam to follow Christ, my own family disowned me and they ostracized me. My own mother, brother and his family didn't attend my wedding because I married a Christian girl in the Church.

My Pakistani Muslim employer withdrew his sponsorship and let me go when he discovered my conversion from Islam to Christianity. I had 30 days to find a new sponsor otherwise I had to leave America. My Muslim attorney backed up from representing me. I had to file a religious asylum case through my new Christian attorney.

When I started sharing my Christian faith with my Muslim friends, I ended up losing all of my Muslim friends here in America. After three years following my baptism, when I shared my faith with my mother over the phone, she started crying so much that I can't even remember for how long she cried. She said to me, her decades worth of emotional and physical investment ended up in vain.

Back in Pakistan, I was a devout Muslim. Throughout my school age years beside attending my regular school, my parents also enrolled me in Islamic religious school for ten years. There I learned Islamic History, Hadith (Muhammad's saying (sirat)) and the Quran with translation (tarjama).

In America, I began reading the Bible, researching about Christianity, as well as researching about Islam to back up what I had been taught and learned all my life. However, I was unable to backup what I had been taught about my own religion. That's how I began my journey to finding Jesus!

Now I have a passion and desire to equip Christians and give them the necessary tools to approach Muslims and be able to answer their objections and questions and ultimately lead them to Jesus.

Samuel Ministries is so passionate about reaching out to Muslims because it hurts us so much that they are so devoted for something that's not the truth! We want Muslims to know that Christianity is the truth and that Jesus is the only way to be saved and go to heaven.
